Connect in your community

Encourage a conservation community where you live. This Valentine's month, show your love for the ocean and its colorful creatures by being a local leader. One person can really make a difference, and by working with others in your community you can multiply that positive effect.

This month you can help encourage a conservation community where you live:

Acting for the angelfish: Encourage others in your community to help make a real difference by contacting your local school, place of worship, or a nearby business and providing them with the inspirational information and website resources from January. E-mail them the website link or print a copy of the page and hand out or post in these and other gathering places.

Turning the tide for the turtles: World Ocean Day on June 8th is coming up soon. Take time today to start organizing a celebration of the ocean in your community. Contact a local organization to ask them what they are planning, or organize your own activity, starting with soliciting support from friends and family. You can learn all about this special event, get celebration ideas, and access an outreach kit at: www.WorldOceanDay.org.

Making a whale of an effort: Help spread the word in your community. The Ocean Project will provide you with free Seas the Day bookmarks, sustainable seafood pocket guides, and postcards on how to eliminate junk mail, all in bulk quantities, if you have targeted places you can distribute these important personal action tools. Please send an email to info@TheOceanProject.org with information about whom you will target, how you propose to distribute them, and how you many of each item you would like. Your help will make a whale of a difference for our ocean!.
