ACTION TIPS JANUARY 2009
Change will not come if we wait for some other person
or some other time. We are the ones we've been
waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

Get inspired for our ocean!

No matter where we live, we are connected to the ocean, from the water we use and the air we breathe to the seafood some of us may eat, as well as for commerce and recreation. Each of us can learn and do more to conserve our shared world ocean and its resources for future generations.

This month you can help by:

Acting for the angelfish: Start off the New Year right by taking The Seven C's Pledge to protect our world ocean! Turn your concern into a commitment for personal action. Take the Seven C's Pledge today, or, if you have already pledged, forward this information to two friends and urge them to make this personal commitment to making a real difference.

Turning the tide for the turtles: Become a member of your local zoo, aquarium, or museum (ZAM). It's a great time of year to explore these fascinating centers for conservation education, get up close with the critters, and get involved with local conservation action efforts they offer. Join now with your local ZAM!

Making a whale of an effort: Get more informed about what is happening to the ocean. By visiting ocean info central you can access some of the best online ocean conservation resources. Then let us know which issue is of most concern to you and we will help connect you locally, nationally, or internationally with others so you can effectively transform your ocean awareness into action. Also, let us know which other websites you think deserve to be included so we can share with all.

If you are not yet directly receiving them, The Ocean Project has two free e-newsletters you can subscribe to and a new blog:
