Celebrate World Oceans Day on June 8th

The ocean may be out of sight, but it need not be out of mind. Take the time to celebrate your connection to our ocean and its incredible diversity of life.

This month, you can "seas the day":

seas the day by wearing blue to celebrate the ocean on June 8th. Be sure to Wear Blue and Tell Two and take part in a World Oceans Day event near you.

seas the day by making your community healthier. Join with friends and neighbors this month to participate in or organize a litter clean up around a local beach or waterway. If you can't participate directly in cleanup efforts, consider contributing to a local conservation organization in your area. The International Coastal Cleanup is just a few months away, so now is a good time to start rallying your team.

seas the day by promoting the path to the sea. Each of us lives in a watershed that connects us through rivers, lakes, and streams to the ocean. Take a minute to surf your watershed virtually, and then do some real-world exploration. If you feel really ambitious, you can use a new "eco-address" tool to trace the path to the sea from your home, exploring the different communities, types of animals and plants, and habitats found along the way. You'll be fascinated to discover all the interesting plant and animal life around you and your connection to the ocean downstream. Then spread the word about this new, and continually evolving, tool!
