| Massapequa | NY | The United States Power Squadron has created "W.A.K.E. U.P.". Waterways Adopted Keep Environments Undamaged & Protected. W.A.K.E. U.P. was created in August of 2007 and is an enviromental project created by the Jones Beach Power Squadron, a unit of the United States Power Squadron, a nationwide non-profit organization of boating enthusiasts. This project is sponsored and endorsed by the Town of Oyster Bay. Our objective is to emphasize the importance of "clean boating" and minimize the impact on water quality from boating activities through action and education. On scheduled dates our volunteers visit local marinas, lakes and waterways to remove debris, and pass out brochure and trash bags. The Town of Oyster Bay supplies us with trash bags and dumpster. Together we can make a difference! Please visit our website at: www.wakeupjbps.net. |
